Robert L. Costello, Sr., 70 Green Street died Sunday, Dec. 12 in his home after an illness.
Bob gave his love, devotion and respect to his fiancée Sandra M. Macaulay of Leicester. The pride of his life was his son Robert Jr. “Bobby”, daughter-in-law Stefanie, and his granddaughter Amber of Leicester, his step-son Anthony Yurkenas, his fiancée Sarah Charette and grandson Anthony, Jr., and his step-daughter Melissa Rumminger and grandson David Rumminger of New Port, ME. The love of his family extended to his step children Kimberly A. Macaulay of Worcester, Melissa, Brad and granddaughter Victoria Lee Cormier of Northbridge, and Michael R. Macaulay and grandson Jack Michael Macaulay of Thompson, CT.. With the love and devotion of family, Bob also leaves his brothers, Walter Costello and his wife Janet of Ohio, Richard Costello and his wife Carol of Worcester, Thomas Costello and his wife Rachel of Grafton and many loving relatives. He is predeceased by his mother Hannah (Gustafson) 1998, father Walter 1988 of Worcester, and brother James of Oxford and former wives Janet Costello 2001 and Mary Costello 1998.
Bobs most loved hobby was playing golf. Hillcrest country club, were he worked for several seasons, were his friends and acquaintances met to socialize was his favorite place. Bob was employed by Marriot Corp. and repaired and stocked vending machines at Norton Co., Worcester for 12 years before retiring in 1998. He also drove long distance tractor trailers for 12 years.
Friends were a great blessing to Bob, he was surrounded by many close friends who loved him dearly, such as James Lahair, a former boss of Bobs who fired him out of anger, hired him back over drinks becoming very close friends/family. While working at Norton Co. he made several friends such as Dan Dudley, who always could make Bob laugh. Kathy and Terry Ward who shared the daily laughter and tears with Bob and Sandy.
Bob touched a great many lives and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
There will be a celebration of life event for Bob at Hillcrest Country Club, Pleasant Street, Leicester Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 6:00 PM. In place of flowers please make a donation in the name of Robert L. Costello, Sr. to UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605. MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester is directing arrangements.
