She worked for Lawrence Freedman and the Chelsea Soldiers Home in the Dietary Department until her retirement in 1994.
Rainy was an active member at the Senior Center. She enjoyed her many trips to Foxwood Casino and Atlantic City with her friends. She wouldn't miss playing the local lottery, no matter what. As a matter of fact, it was the simple things that made her happy, and filled her heart with joy. She was an active participant at the local food bank, picking up and giving food to those in need.
Rainy met and married the late William E. Harvey, Sr. of Chelsea. They settled in Chelsea, and raised their eight children in their 63 year span of marriage. She was the devoted and loving mother of son's William E. Harvey, Jr. of Las Vegas, Joseph M. Harvey and Lawrence V. Harvey, Sr. both of Chelsea, Gerald F. Harvey of California and the late Alan B. Harvey. She also leaves her loving and caring daughters, Lorraine M. Harvey and Darlene A. Eskridge both of California and Carol J. Harvey of Chelsea. She also leaves to mourn her sons-in law, Edward V. Roberts and Ottie Eskridge both of California and her daughters-in-law, Linda Harvey of California and Dorothy Harvey of Las Vegas. Beloved sister of Paul Smith of Las Vegas, Marlene Tyler of Chelsea and the late Morris Smith, Buddy Smith, Charles Smith, Ethel Richards, Mary Clark, Dorothy Cook, Edna Santiago and Emerline Cromwell.
