Eleanor Thompson Lawton of Mystic, CT, wife of the late Roger Hill Lawton and the daughter of the late Anastasia V. Connors Thompson and Thomas William Thompson of Worcester, MA died peacefully in her home on December 11, 2010.
She is also predeceased by two sisters Anna T. Butler of Westerly, RI, Mary E. Thompson of Worcester, MA, and by two brothers Charles J. Thompson of Madison, NJ and William T. Thompson of Worcester, MA.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Fay Lawton of Vineyard Haven, MA and Mary Beth Lawton and her partner Danusa Lesqueves of Cambridge, MA.
She is also survived by three grandchildren, Elizabeth Burrows and her husband Robert Troupe of Boulder, CO, Peter Lawton Burrows and his wife Sonja Burrows of Eugene, OR and Sara Zanze and her husband Billy Zanze of Portland, OR, seven great grandchildren, Grace Vining, Zacariah, Caleb and Elsa Burrows and Haley, Sadie and Jasper Zanze, a sister-in-law- Barbara Thompson of Madison, NJ and a niece, Susan Thompson and her husband Jonathan Whiting of Oak Bluffs, MA.
Eleanor was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Ram Island Yacht Club and Masons Island Yacht Club. She was also a volunteer at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, Child and Family Services of Southeastern CT and the Mystic Seaport.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St. Mystic CT, on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm.
The funeral will assemble at 11 am on Thursday at the Dinoto Funeral Home and proceed to a 12 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Church in Mystic. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic.
Memorial donations in Eleanor Lawton’s memory may be made to the Child and Family Services Agency of Southeastern CT.
