FALL RIVER … Maria Lourdes Medeiros-Gamboa, 83, a resident of Fall River since 2001, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 after a long illness.
She was born in Cascais, Portugal and was the beloved wife of Luis Gamboa. Maria was the daughter of the late Jose Pavao and the late Helena Pavao.
Maria was a homemaker that enjoyed needlework including knitting and crocheting. She also had a love for music and sang in the church choir.
Survivors include her husband, 2 daughters: Maria Filomena Ruff of Austria and Maria Margaret Furtado of Fall River, 1 son: Luis M. Gamboa and his wife Maryann Martelly Gamboa of New Bedford, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Jose Manuel Pavao.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday, at 8:30 AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Holy Name Church, 850 Pearce St. Fall River. Call hours will be held Tuesday from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Maria’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, Massachusetts 02472.
