WORCESTER-Philip L. Roy, Sr., 68, of Worcester died Saturday, December 11th at home after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Patricia M. (Annesty) Roy; three sons, Philip L. Roy, Jr. of Rutland and his former wife, Tara S. Roy of Northborough, Christopher J. Roy, Sr. of Worcester and his former wife, Linda S. Slauenwhite of Auburn and Robert J. Roy, Sr. and his significant other, Christine Fleming of Leicester; four grandchildren, Christopher J. Roy, Jr., Kayla Elizabeth, Sabrina Ashley and Robert J. Roy, Jr. “RJ” and his mother, Julie; his nephew, Mark; his niece, Linda and Tom and their children; Phil’s surrogate sons, Joseph Taraska and Todd Fitzgerald; and his two dogs, Larry and Moe. He was predeceased by a half brother, William.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Laurence and Exilda Roy. Philip worked for Philip Massad Movers for 15 years after retiring from B.H. Cutler where he was a union roofer. He was a member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243. He enjoyed listening to Elvis and spending time with his family and friends.
Mrs. Roy would like to thank Phil's three guardian angels: Linda L., Tara R., and Linda S. for the wonderful care and support that they have given.
The funeral is Wednesday, December 15th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Tuesday, December 14th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Care Network, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608 in appreciation for the excellent care Phil received at home.
