Obituary

EAST PEORIA…George E. Clark, Jr., 73, of East Peoria, passed away at 7:37 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2010 at Peoria Specialty Hospital.

George was born on July 29, 1937 in Arkansas to George “Eb” and Corrine Henry Clark, Sr. He married Jackie Grimes Young in Washington, Illinois on December 15, 1979. Jackie survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Juanita (Pastor Jim) Nelson of Creve Coeur and Melissa Tidwell of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Jacquey Ferrell of Atlanta, Georgia and three loving grandchildren, Jamie, Erik and Audrey Nelson.

George had worked as a millwright for many years at the Corn Products Plant in Pekin.

He had served four years in the U. S. Air Force, spending some of that time at Formosa/Okinawa.

George loved music and was a talented musician and played various instruments, especially the clarinet. He was proud of his family and was a loving husband. George will always be remembered by his red shirts that he loved to wear.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the ICU team at the Greater Peoria Specialty Hospital for the care given to George.

Memorial service for George will be held on Friday, December 17 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Washington with his son-in-law, Pastor Jim Nelson officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the U.S. Air Force and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the memorial service and they ask that all wear red in memory of George. Mason-White Funeral Home is assisting the family in arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Peoria South Side Mission.
