James E. “Jay” Larkin, Sr., age 52 of Brockton, died Friday December 10, 2010 after a period of failing health. He was the husband for 30 years of Donna M. (Butler) Larkin. Jay was born and raised in Whitman a son of Barbara A. (Hammond) Larkin of Plymouth and the late Paul F. Larkin, Sr.
Jay was a 1976 graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School and the owner of James E. Larkin Plumbing doing business for Plymouth County Mechanical Contractors. For many years he coached basketball for St. Margaret CYO and the Brockton Basketball Club in AAU.
He is also survived by his children James E. Larkin, Jr. and his wife Melissa of New York, NY; John B. Larkin and his wife Amy, Matthew P. Larkin and Tara J. Larkin all of Brockton and one grandson Zion James. He was the brother of Karen Zaiatz of Bridgewater, Paul F. Larkin, Jr. and Steven Larkin both of East Bridgewater and Eileen Forte of Plymouth.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday at 9am. Funeral Mass in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman at 10am. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours Monday, 4-8pm. Donations in Jay’s name may be made to Cardio Vascular Wellness Care Center, c/o Brigham and Women’s Hospital, 75 Francis St., Boston, MA 02215.
