Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Ralph K. Brown, Jr., 70, of 122 Prospect Street, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 in the Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of Cora (Parnell) Brown.
Born in Gloucester on August 10, 1940, he was the son of the late Estelle (Darcy) Campbell and Ralph K. Brown, Sr. Ralph was a graduate of the Gloucester High School and Essex Agricultural Technical Institute.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served from September of 1958 and was honorably discharged in August of 1962.
Ralph was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for twenty years, having retired in 2005. He was member of the Amvets Post #32 of Gloucester, Capt. Lester S. Wass Post #3, American Legion and Gloucester Lodge of Elks No. 892. He enjoyed gardening and carpentry.
In addition to his wife of 15 years, he is survived by a son, Michael Brown; a daughter, Kelly Brown-Mitchell and her husband Michael Mitchell; a stepson, William Mamede; two grandchildren, Jalisa and Christopher Brown; two sisters, Donna E. Lok and Bonnie L. Wright. He was also predeceased by his stepfather, William E. Campbell and his stepson, Marlo Mamede, who was lost at sea in 1979.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning in the Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 9:30 a.m. There are no visiting hours.
