Obituary

Methuen, MA- Charles J. Larkin, 95, died at home Friday December 10, 2010 surrounded by his family.

Born on May 1st, 1915 in Methuen, Charles was the son of John and Anne (Feeney) Larkin. He was educated in Methuen and was a graduate of Edward F. Searle’s High School. He also served his country in the Army during World War II until being honorably discharged.

For over 30 years, Charles worked as an engineer at the Merrimack Paper Co. in Lawrence, where he retired at the age of 65.

Charles was a communicant of St. Monica’s Church and organized Walk Marathons to raise money for the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Methuen Council #4027. After his retirement, he walked the Appalachian Trail. He enjoyed dancing and singing and played the accordion and organ. He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all of them.

The widower of the late Bertha Larkin with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, Charles is survived by his 6 children, Kathleen Costello of Salem, NH, Mary and her husband Robert Martell of Bradford, Maureen and her husband James Gioia of Methuen, Beverlee and her husband Earl “Sonny” Raymond of Methuen, Charles Larkin Jr. of Methuen and Nancy and her husband Glenn Gifford of St. Petersburg, Fl. He will also be sadly missed by 6 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son John Larkin and his 3 sisters.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday morning, December 16th at 9AM at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. At the families request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kenneth H.
