Hallie Tate Brown, age 91, of 134 Lamberth Drive, Danville, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 in Piney Forest Health Care. She had been in declining health for the past 6 years and a resident in the nursing home for the past 5 years.
Born November 2, 1919 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Tate and Emma Haymore Tate. She lived her entire life in the Westover Hills Community and was employed as a machine operator for Dan River, Inc. until retirement. She was first married to Henry Harville and later to Howard Brown, both of whom predeceased her. Mrs. Brown was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter: Eleanor Pruitt of Danville; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia White, and a brother, Ruben Tate.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Bob Yeaman will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at eleven o’clock at the graveside in Floral Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Swicegood Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., and at other times, they will be at the residence on Lamberth Drive.
