Obituary

EXETER, NH—Lawrence W. Watson, Sr., a longtime resident of Lowell, who recently moved to New Hampshire, died Friday evening at the Exeter Hospital. He was the husband of the late Anna (Collins) Watson who died in 1971and Dorothy (Quinn) Watson, who died in May of this year.

Born in Demorest, GA. on September 5, 1919, he was a son of the late Leonard F. and Mary A. (Church) Watson and was educated in the Georgia schools. He was a graduate of Piedmont College, in Georgia.

During World War II, Mr. Watson served in the United States Army Air Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. For 37 years, Mr. Watson was employed as a Sales Representative and a Customer Service Supervisor for the Lowell Gas Company later known as Colonial Gas Company. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and choir and a member of Mt. Pleasant Golf Club. He also served on the Board of Directors of the former St. John’s Nursing Home.

Surviving him are a son and daughter-in-law: Lawrence W. Watson, Jr., and his wife Kelly, of Hampton, NH; a daughter and son-in-law: Judith and Robert Chester, of Manville, NJ; five grandchildren: Kelly A. Watson-Desjardins, Lawrence W. Watson, III, Christopher S. Chester, Cynthia M. Chester and Abigayle P. Watson; two sisters, Christine Seymour of North Carolina and Mildred Davis of Georgia and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Watson was the brother of the late Earl G. Watson and W.L. Watson.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 PM on Monday, December 22nd, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass to be offered Tuesday, December 23rd, at 9 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
