Obituary

William D. Bernard, 84, Formerly of Sherborn MA passed away November 25, 2010. He was the eighth of nine children born to the late Arthur A. Bernard & Daisy [McKeil] Bernard of Natick MA. He proudly served his country in WWII with courage & honor as a submariner in the South Pacific Theatre. He loved to share his colorful stories of family, friends and life experiences. His passion and zest for life was felt by all those that knew him. Steadfast in his ethics and beliefs he was an integral part of those that were close to him and of the communities in which he lived.

He outlived two wonderful loving wives, Margaret [Benedict] Bernard, 1928-1981 married for 33 years and Doris [Beers] Bernard 1928-2004 married for 21 years. He is survived by his Sons William A. Bernard of Holliston MA, James E. Beers of Bellingham MA, Raymond Beers of Falmouth MA, Daughters Karen [Bernard] LaFreniere of Little River SC, Susan [Bernard] Rasmussen of Redmond WA, Debra [Beers] Olson of Flagler Beach FLA, Susan [Beers] Longley, deceased, of Margate FLA, Mary Beth [Beers] Russell of Natick MA and Holly [Beers] O?Brien of Pompano Beach FLA. He leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two older sisters Grace [Bernard] Shiel of Natick MA and Barbara [Bernard] Bitzer of Exeter NH.

A reception for family and friends will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) Natick MA on Friday December 10th from 5-8 PM. There will be a Memorial Service Saturday December 11th at 2 PM at the Pilgrim Church in Sherborn MA. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Sherborn. Those wishing to remember Bill may do so through memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701-1803.
