Obituary

Mr. William J. "Bill" Hoyt, 96, a resident of Salem, NH, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Penacook Place in Haverhill, MA.

Bill was born on January 5th, 1914 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to the late Carleton P. and Julia (Murphy) Hoyt. He was educated in the Lawrence schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. During the war Bill was a Foreman of a 30-40 man crew for the Naval Shipyard in Boston, working 7 days a week with only Fourth of July and Christmas as his only 2 days off a year.

He worked in the Heating and Cooling business as a Steam Fitter for John Ventura and Bride and Grimes in Lawrence, MA. Bill did all the big contract work for the company and was a member of the Local Pipefitters Union Association for over 60 years.

He was a talented photographer and had cats, dogs, chickens, rabbits and was a breeder of Parakeets, he also built his own greenhouse. Bill loved the great outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also designed and built at least four houses, including a cottage at Seabrook Beach, a Lake house at Bow Lake, and according to his family helped build his brother's home.

Bill was someone you could always depend on, he was the go-to person for neighbors and friends. He was very helpful with repairs and was handy around the house.

Husband of the late Mrs. Anna Helen (Murdza) Hoyt who died on December 7th, 2003.

Sister: Eunice Hanlon of California and the Cape

Godchild and half brother: Varnum Hoyt of Salem, NH

His grandchildren: William J. Hoyt, III and his wife Nancy, Joseph Hoyt, David Ferguson, Daniel Ferguson and his wife Linda VanDuyne, Diane Ferguson, Douglas Ferguson and his wife Kristie. As well as 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Saints Mary and Josephs Parish, Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road in Salem, NH.
