NATICK/WAYLAND: Forrest Thomas “Tom” Griffin, Jr. 83, died on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home in Natick following a period of declining health.
Tom, an Irishman from Southie, was the son of the late Forrest T. Griffin and Margaret L. (Dowd) Griffin.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian M. (Shepherd) Griffin of Natick formerly of Wayland. He was the loving father of Anne Kilduff Enis of Westford; Paul Kilduff of Belmont; Judy Kilduff Armata of Northborough and Nancy Kilduff Laquerre of Lexington. Also survived by 6 grandchildren.
Tom has been a resident of Natick for several years and for many years of Wayland. He spent his youth and earlier years in South Boston where he was educated. Tom was longtime employee of Casey and Hayes Movers of South Boston and a member of Teamsters Local 82. Tom started boxing at a young age and had over 100 amateur fights and a welter weight pro record of 34-6. Tom was true to his Irish heritage and some of his favorite places were Castle Island in Southie and Ireland. He was an avid Red Sox fan and an original Patriots season ticket holder. He was also a Golden Gloves season ticket holder for many years and loved to spend that time with his son Paul and traveling with him to Ireland. Tom also served his country proudly during World War II in the North Pacific with the United States Navy. Tom was devoted to his family and made friends wherever he went.
Visitations will be held today, December 6, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 9:00 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Zepherins Church, Route 27, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Griffin family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
Family and friends are welcome to “wear green” in honor of Tom and his proud Irish heritage.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial gifts in Tom’s memory may be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Church St. Station, POB 780, New York, NY 10008-0780.
