Ann Lee Chaney, age 73, of Nicholls, GA passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Chaney was born on January 29, 1937 in Ben Hill County, GA to the late Tirey and Mary Ellen Dale Porter. Mrs. Chaney was preceded in death by a daughter Betty Lee Merritt. She was a substitute teacher and head custodian with the Nicholls School System for 25 years and she was a member of Telmore Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with burial following in Salem Church Cemetery. Survivors include husband: Willis Chaney, Nicholls, GA; daughters: Bonnie Jean (Danny) Worth, Nicholls, GA, Brenda (Jerry) Thigpen, Pearson, GA; son: Willis Chaney, Jr., Nicholls, GA; son in law: Vernon Merritt, Nicholls, GA; sister: Linda Thomas, Wilsonville, GA; brothers: Bill Porter, Monticello, GA, Gene Porter, Douglas, GA, Curtis Porter, Douglas, GA and James Porter, Waycross, GA; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; special relative: Dexter Timms and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 3, and Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
