Obituary

Wanda M. (Mackiewicz) Cook, 89, of Whitman formerly of Abington, passed away suddenly and peacefully, with her children by her side on Thursday December 2nd in the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edwin D. Cook

She was born and raised in Abington, MA, daughter of Stefan and Sophie (Ruskiewicz) Mackiewicz in 1921. She attended Abington High School, and graduated in 1939.

She was employed at London Clothing, Inc. in Abington as a seamstress and at ET Wrights Shoe, Inc as a stitcher in Rockland.

She was a life time member of the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Abington.

Wanda was an avid housewife and enjoyed music (Piano playing), creative arts and crafts, and sewing.

She is survived by her children Edwin “Michael” Cook and his wife Peggy of Maryland, David Cook of Florida, her sisters Jennie G. Arab of Whitman, Pauline Lee of New Jersey; also her grandchildren Michelle, David, Marissa, Mark, Danielle, Rachel, her great grandchildren, Brianna, Sydney, Logan and Parker. She was also the mother of the late Wanda E. Cook, Janice Cook and sister of the late Francis Mackiewicz and Henrietta Roy.

Her services will be held on Monday December 6th at 8:15 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00AM in the St. Bridget Church, Abington. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Rockland, MA. Visitation will be on Sunday December 5th from 1:00-4:00PM.
