METHUEN – Thomas J. Delehanty 75 longtime Methuen resident died Tuesday November 30, 2010 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
Born and educated in Lowell, MA, he was the son of James and Ana (Lemire) Delehanty. During the Korean Conflict he served in the U.S. Marines and was honorably discharged.
For more than 20 years he was employed with the Department of Public Works in the City of Methuen and after his retirement worked part time at Rockingham Race Track. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion in Methuen, the Knights of Columbus in Methuen and also the Jaycees. He enjoyed spending time at Rockingham Park, liked to travel going to Hampton Beach and spending time with his family.
The widower of Barbara A. (Bamforth) Delehanty, he is survived by his children Lynn A. Cool and her husband Richard of Methuen, MA, Sue Ann LeBlanc of Framingham, MA and Thomas M. Delehanty and his wife Kelly of Nashua, NH.
One brother and two sisters, James Delehanty and his wife Ann of Lowell, MA, Rita Trojan and her husband Edward of Rhode Island, Maureen O’Neil of Dracut, MA
Brother-in-law David Price, Sr.
Five grandchildren, Brandi Sue LeBlanc, Crystal M. Cool, Brendan LeBlanc, Alyssa Lynn Delehanty and Nathan Thomas Delehanty
Tom was pre-deceased by his sister Kathleen Price.
ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Stroke Association 20 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01710, or Toy’s for Tots donations being accepted at the Pollard Funeral Home. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2:00p.m. – 6:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9:00a.m. in St. Monica’s Church in Methuen, MA. Burial will take place at a later date.
