Obituary

TAUNTON – Joseph L. Homen, husband of Lucilia (Correia) Homen, died at his Taunton home on Dec. 2, 2010.
He was 93.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Manuel L. and Mary J. (Amaral Fonseca) Homen. Educated in Taunton schools, Mr. Homen owned and operated the former Double 12 Club in E. Taunton for many years.
He was later employed as a forklift driver for Dyecraftsman Inc. until retiring many years ago.
A communicant of Holy Family Church in E. Taunton, Mr. Homen played the trumpet and was a former member of the Taunton City Band.
He also played the mandolin and led an ensemble known as The Rythmeers many years ago.
Besides his wife of Taunton, he is survived by two daughter, Judy Perry of Raynham, and Cheryl Bartek of Boston; two stepdaughters, Marie Girard and Susan Smith, both of Taunton; two sisters, Louise A. Homen and Mary Dolores Greer, both of E. Taunton; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, Dec. 6th at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church, E. Taunton at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 5th from 2 to 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
