Eleanor E. Garofano, 83, passed away at her home in Everett on December 1st, 2010 surrounded by her loved ones. Eleanor was born in Everett on January 15th, 1927 to her parents George and Edmee’ (Mercier) Battershall. She has been a life-long resident of Everett and is a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1945. Eleanor was a gifted artist and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts and making improvements to her home using her artistic abilities. Eleanor was a past member of the Ladies Sodality at St. Therese Church in Everett and was also a Past President of the Everett Public School Parent Teachers Association. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who spent her life caring for her family. She loved her life. Eleanor is survived by her children; Eleanor Jean Albano and her husband Stephen of Amherst, New Hampshire, William J. Garofano and his wife Karen of Stoneham, James V. Garofano Jr. and his wife Patricia of Wakefield and Eileen M. Caruso and her husband Steven of West Peabody; by her daughter-in-law Faye Garofano of North Andover; by her grandchildren; Alexis, Kirsten, Stephen Jr., Kerry, Rebecca, Thomas Jr., Taryn, William Jr., Samantha, James V. III, Jillian, Steven Jr., Victoria and Olivia; by her great grandchildren; Elle, Samuel, Augustin, Isabelle, Weston, Libby, Joseph, Ethan and Tyler. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband James V. Garofano Sr.; by her son Thomas James Garofano; by her sister Doris Wernig and by her brother George Battershall. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Tuesday December 7th at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Glenwood Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday December 6th from 4-8 PM.
