Walter J. Rose

...carpenter for Flagg Construction; 68

TEWKSBURY - Walter J. Rose, age 68, a well known carpenter in the greater Lowell area, diedFriday, Dec. 19, at his home in Dracut, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born in Lexington, Oct. 22, 1935, a son of the late John and Dorothy (Murray) Rose. Hewas raised in Lexington, and lived in Woburn for 15 years before moving to Tewksbury where hehad spent the greater part of his life. He moved to Dracut 6 years ago.

For the last 30 years, he was employed as a carpenter for Flagg Construction, based inTewksbury.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Elizabeth, two sons and a daughter-in-law; James Rose ofMethuen, and Shawn and his wife Shannon Rose of Calif.; three step-sons, Charles and his wifePatricia Hughes Jr. of Penn., James and his wife Luneal Hughes of Derry, NH, Joseph Hughes ofConcord, NH; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, John and his wife Alice Rose, Theran andhis wife Barbara Rose, and Taylor Rose all of Woburn; two sisters, Jean Fournier of Somerville,and Alice Malone of Nashua, NH; seven grandchildren, Lyndsey, Samantha, and Matthew Rose,Charles Hughes III, William Price, Katherine and Jeffrey Hughes; and many nieces and nephewsincluding a special niece, Donna Solazzi of Lowell, great nieces and nephews and great greatnieces and nephews.

He was also brother of the late Richard Rose, Mary Mennella, and Barbara Davis.

His funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 23, in the funeral home. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
