Charlene Massey Barbour, age 77, of 16427 Franklin Turnpike, Dry Fork, died Monday, November 29, 2010 in Duke University Medical Center. She had been in declining health since September and a patient in Duke for the past twelve days.
Born September 18, 1933 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late H. Bucher Massey and Mary White Massey. She was a housewife and lived most of her life in the Callands Community, and was a member of Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ran Bernell Barbour; one daughter: Kathy Barbour of Axton; two sons: Melvin Barbour of Axton and Kenny Barbour of Dry Fork; two brothers: Doug Massey and Dallas Massey, both of Danville; 11 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Billy Barbour.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Mike Hearp will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Swansonville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the Barbour Family Cemetery in Callands. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 6 until 7:30 p.m., and at other times they will be at the residence.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the family for the purchase of a headstone. Swicegood Funeral Home is serving the Barbour family.
