Obituary

John Joseph Gendreau, Jr., 61, of Danvers, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at home following a long illness. He was the husband of Carol (Metivier) Gendreau.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late John and Eileen (McGrath) Gendreau of Lynn.
He graduated from Lynn English High School. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Northeastern University, majoring in political science. He also attended McGill University in Montreal as a Ph.D. candidate.
Mr. Gendreau was employed as chief staff person for Massachusetts State Senator John G. King from 1981-1982.
Since 1983, he was employed with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Most recently, he was a Quality Assurance Specialist responsible for testing sophisticated web applications administered by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.
He leaves one daughter, Meredith Gendreau of Boston; one son, Ryan Gendreau of Danvers; one brother, Kevin Gendreau of California; and one sister, Cheryl D’Amico of Lynn. He was also the father of the late Alison Gendreau.
His funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at 12PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Wadsworth Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made towards the Financial Aid Program at Glen Urquhart School, 74 Hart Street, Beverly Farms, MA 01915.
