Joyce W. Mason, 77, of Natick passed away late Sunday evening, Oct. 31, 2010 at the Metro West Medical Center in Natick. Born Oct. 6, 1933 in Industry, ME she was the daughter of George and Julia Watson, the youngest of 9 children all of whom are deceased.
Joyce grew up in Industry and Madison, ME where she attended school, she enjoyed music and playing the piano. Joyce graduated from Maine Beauty Academy in Augusta and was a hairdresser for many years in the Farmington, ME area. In the early 50’s she purchased an establishment on Main Street where she was able to successfully practice her profession and employ additional hairdressers.
Joyce is survived by her husband Roger W. Mason from New Sharon, ME area. They were married on June 28, 1959, even after 51 years he still lovingly referred to her as his “bride”. They had two daughters Tamara and Lori. In 1962 Joyce sold her business and moved to Newton, MA with Roger and Tamara. In 1964 they bought a two family home in Natick, Ma where her husband continues to live.
Jan 18, 1969 Roger and Joyce were baptized together as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her most enjoyable and rewarding activity was serving with her husband for 42 years as a minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses, preaching and teaching Bible truths written by Jehovah in his word the Bible. Both daughters served with them in the ministry until their early deaths due to sickness, Lori in 1978 and Tamara in 2006.
A memorial service will be held on Nov. 12, 2010 at 6:30 P.M. at the Jehovah’s Witness Hall, 85 Bacon Street, Natick, MA. Mr. Les Fashank will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot, New Dell Park Cemetery, Natick. Funeral arrangements by the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common.
