Robert L. Davis, Sr. (Ret. NPD), affectionately known as "Shotgun", lifelong of Natick, passed away on November 12, 2010. He was 87 years old & the beloved husband of the late Anna (MacDonald) Davis who passed away in 1998 & with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Born in Natick, son of the late Leroy & Anna (Mahoney) Davis, Mr. Davis was educated in the Natick Public Schools & a graduate of Natick High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army during WWII in India, Burma, & China. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, & the Victory Medal. Mr. Davis served as a police officer for the Town of Natick from 1954 until his retirement in 1983. After his retirement, he operated the Town of Natick community bus for a number of years. He was a member of the Natick VFW Post 1274, the Natick Elks, & the MA Police Assoc. A proud grandfather, Mr. Davis was a lover of animals, enjoyed travelling to FL for Natick Days, enjoyed all music especially the big band era, & crossword puzzles.
He is survived by 4 children, Robert L. Davis, Jr. & his wife Robin of Pompano Beach, FL, Elaine Payton & her husband Kevin of Medway, William Davis of Naples, FL, & Debra Becker & her husband Michael of Chepachet, RI; 5 grandchildren, Robin Lynn Flynn & her husband Michael, Roy Davis, Derek Payton, & Nikolai & Alex Blinow; 1 great-grandson, Robert L. Flynn, & several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard Davis - who was his twin, Daniel Davis, & Lt. William Davis.
Relatives & friends are cordially invited to attend Mr. Davis' funeral on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, South Natick. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 3-6 PM.
