LOWELL - Frances E. (Tibbetts) Schelfhaudt, age 87, a descendent of John Alden who arrived inAmerica aboard the Mayflower, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 17, at the New England MedicalCenter in Boston after a brief illness. She was the wife of Peter P. Schelfhaudt, who died in 1997.
She was born in Portland, Maine, the daughter of the late Orlando and Ruby (Wilkinson)Tibbetts. She was raised in Waltham, Mass., and lived in Chelsea before moving to Woburn,where she resided for 45 years. She moved to the home of her daughter in Lowell two years ago.
She was Past Supreme Grand Mistress of the Loyal Orange Lodge. Earlier, she had servedstatewide as Past Worthy Mistress, Chelsea Purple Star, of the L.O.L.
She remained active at the First Baptist Church of Woburn for more than 45 years, where she was also a member of the Sybil White Class.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Peter F. and his wife Christina (McGrath)Schelfhaudt of Cape Neddick, ME; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara E. and her husbandMerrill Erichsen of California, Maryland, Donna E. and her husband Patrick J. Carbone of Lowell;two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Dr. Orlando and his wife Phyllis Tibbetts of Penney Farms,FL, Richard and his wife Carol Tibbetts of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, 10 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral iwas held Monday, Dec. 22, First Baptist Church of Woburn, 3 Winn St. Woburn Center. Interment was inWoodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
