EAST BOSTON - Albert A. DeGregorio Sr., age 93, who leaves family locally in Tewksburyand Salem, NH and Cape Cod, died Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Cape Cod Nursing andRehabilitation Hospital in Buzzards Bay, after a short period of failing health. He was thehusband of Natalie V. (Miraglia) DeGregorio, who died on May 31, 2003.
He was born in East Boston, April 25, 1910, a son of the late Vincenzo and Carmela (Bonillo)DeGregorio. He lived his entire life in East Boston, where he was a communicant of St. MaryStar of the Sea Church.
He retired from General Electric Company in 1973, after working for more than 28 years as amachinist in the East Boston, Lynn, and Everett plants. he was a member of the I.U.E. Union.
Mr. DeGregorio was an accomplished musician who played many instruments, but specialized inAlto Saxophone. He was a member and leader of many bands during his musical career, andplayed thousands of functions in the greater Boston area.
He is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Daniel DeGregorio of Buzzards Bay,MA, Ronald and his wife Susan (Toll) of Salem, NH , Albert and his wife Judy (Ashley)DeGregorio of Buzzards Bay, MA, and William and his wife Esther (Garofalo) DeGregorio ofTewksbury, 9 cherished grandchildren; 10 cherished great grandchildren; and many nieces andnephews.
He was also brother of the late Mario DeGregorio, Dora Caturano, Frances Giardulo, FlorencePurcilo, and Irene Durante.
His Funeral Mass was held Monday, Dec. 22, in St. Robert Bellarmine Church. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, No.Tewksbury.
