M. Roberta “Bobbi” (Starr) Cronin, 81 years old, widow of the late Barry F. Cronin Sr. who died in 1988, died Wednesday morning at Palm Manor Nursing Home in Chelmsford.
Born in Lowell on May 19, 1929 she was a daughter of the late James D. and Florence (Gallagher) Starr and was educated in the Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School in 1946.
Throughout her life, she was a homemaker who cared for her loving family. In the early 1980’s, Mrs. Cronin worked in Human Resources at Wang Laboratories in Lowell. She was past- prefect of St. Margaret Church’s Sodality and remained on the Sodality’s Board for 37 years. Mrs. Cronin was a member of the League of Catholic Women, the Friends of the Pollard Library, the Red Hat Village Belles of Chelmsford, the Friends of the Senior Center of Chelmsford and Mount Pleasant Golf Club.
She is survived by a son and daughter in law, James S. Cronin and his wife Ann of Lowell; two daughters and a son in law, Meg Cronin of Winthrop and Jennifer Oliver-Goodwin and her husband Richard of New York; two grandsons, Davis Xavier and Liam James Oliver- Goodwin of New York and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cronin was also the mother of the late Barry F. Cronin Jr. who died in 2004 and sister of the late Sgt. James R. Starr who died in 1945 during WWII.
CRONIN- Relatives and friends may call on Monday Nov. 29, from 3 until 7 pm at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH STREET (Rte.38). Her Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 9:30 AM at St. Margaret’s Church followed by burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Should friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 150 Appleton Street, Lowell, MA 01852. Arrangements are by the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, LOWELL.
