Charlton - Noella R. (Hamel) Lavallee, 84, of 48 Gould Rd. formerly of Canterbury St. Worcester and Leicester died Wednesday Jan. 30 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center - University Campus after an illness.
Her husband of 51 years Albert W. Lavallee died in 1990. She leaves one son Paul A. Lavallee of Millbury; six daughters Janet N. Ciborowski and Joan A. Lane both of Worcester, Aline F. Fitzgerald of Charlton with whom she lived, Sandra D. Osborne of Hooksett, NH, Linda L. Carter of Fullerton, CA and Denise A. Richard of St. Ignace, New Brunswick, Canada; one brother George A. Hamel of Leicester; two sisters Alice Charbonneau of Spencer and Jeannette Fleming of Oxford; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She is also predeceased by two brothers Henry E. Hamel of California and Armand G. Hamel of Auburn; one sister Lea M. Hoey of Worcester. Mrs. Lavallee was born in Auburn daughter of Wilfred A. and Alexandrina (Collette) Hamel and lived in Worcester and Leicester before moving to Charlton.
Mrs. Lavallee worked in the cafeteria at Crompton & Knowles Co. many years ago.
She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church and their Ladies Sodality. She also volunteered at Holy Name of Jesus Church bingo for many years.
The funeral will be held on Saturday February 2 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a mass at 11:30 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church 53 Illinois St.. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are on Saturday Feb. 2 from 9 to 11 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Church 51 Illinois St. Worcester, MA 01610 or to the American Kidney Fund.
