WARE/WEBSTER – Elizabeth A. Steele, 70, died Friday, November 26, 2010, in Brookhaven Rest Home, West Brookfield, after an illness.
She leaves 2 daughters, Dawn Sanchez and Rebecca Mondou; 2 brothers, Michael G. Steele of Denver, CO, and James W. Steele of Webster; and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother John “Jackie” Steele in 1963.
She was born and raised in Webster, the daughter of John L. and Bernice M. (Haggerty) Steele, and lived in Webster until moving to Ware 35 years ago. She graduated from Saint Louis High School in Webster and attended Worcester State College.
Ms. Steele was an adjudicator for the Department of Education and Training of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for many years before she retired in 2002.
She was an active member of All Saints Church in Ware, where she belonged to the prayer group and served as a Eucharistic minister. She was a hospice volunteer for several years.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, December 1, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street, Webster. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. A calling hour will be from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Wednesday, December 1, in the funeral home.
