David Ross Sargent,
Tewksbury Plumbing and Gas Inspector
TEWKSBURY: David Ross Sargent, age 79, a lifelong Tewksbury resident and 67 year member of the First Baptist Church of Tewksbury, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
He was the beloved husband Charlotte M. (Kent) Sargent, with whom he celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on August 30, 2010.
Born in Andover on September 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Ross Everett Sargent and the late M. Adele (Deveau) Sargent.
David attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1949. In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict aboard the U.S.S. Denebola.
David was a master plumber and worked for several local plumbing companies. He retired from M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratories in 1996. In addition, he served as the Tewksbury Plumbing and Gas Inspector for more than 38 years. David held several licenses including Master Plumber, Master Pipefitter, Construction Supervisor and Oil Burner Technician.
David was a member of several professional and fraternal organizations including the Massachusetts Plumbing and Gas Inspectors Association, a 50 year Member of the Wamesit Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Tewksbury, a 32nd degree member of the Aleppo Shrine and a life member of the Massachusetts Consistory.
David loved working around his yard, traveling, woodworking, painting, watching television, and anything relating to John Deere tractors. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a life member of the N.R.A.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by one daughter, Robin S. Murch and her husband Mark of Dunstable; one son, Ross D. Sargent of Pelham, NH; one grandson, Matthew J. Murch of Dunstable; one brother, Charles E. Sargent and his wife Nancy of Pelham, NH; three sisters-in-law, Esther C. Brooks of Cooperstown, NY, Jane K. Cobleigh and her husband Raymond of Tewksbury and Evelyn H. Kent of Venice, FL; also many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours Monday, Nov. 29, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover St., Rte. 133, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., # 501, Boston, MA 02210.
