Carolyn F. (Stimpson) Day, 73, of Norton formerly of Mansfield and Easton passed away peacefully on Friday November 26, 2010 at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility in Easton.
Born in Brockton, MA on December 4, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Richard and Ruth (Lyon) Stimpson.
Carolyn grew up in Brockton, was educated in Brockton public schools and was a graduate of Brockton High School. Before retiring, Carol had been employed for over 20 years at the former Ames Warehouse in Mansfield.
Carol was an active member of the auxiliary groups at the Norton VFW and the Norton American Legion, where she enjoyed socializing with friends, playing pool and pitch tournaments.
She also enjoyed crocheting and times spent in the presence of her adoring family, especially with the grandchildren. She had made her home in Norton for several years and previously resided in Mansfield and Easton.
She is survived by her devoted children Nancy L. Vara and her husband Henry of Georgia, Gale R. Day of Florida, Thomas E. Day and his wife Sherry of Georgia, Brenda J. McDonald and her husband Dan of Florida and David E. Day of Taunton. The sister of Betty McVay of Easton and the late Orin Stimpson, Earl Stimpson, Frederick Stimpson, Muriel Samanski, Eleanor Johnson, Ruth Williams, Gwendolyn Monk-Cretinon, Gloria Kahler and twin sister Marilyn Stimpson, Mrs. Day is also survived by her cherished 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her former husband Robert Day of Brockton.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday December 1st at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave. ) Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday November 30th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
