Silvana “Sil” (Oliveira) DeCosta, 94, of N. Dartmouth passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Southeastern MA Health & Rehabilitation Facility in New Bedford. She was wife of the late Manuel “Tom” DeCosta.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Manuel and Marianna (Amorin) Oliveira, she had lived in Dartmouth for most of her life. Mrs. DeCosta was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved cooking, gardening and family holidays.
Survivors include 2 sons: James DeCosta of N. Dartmouth and Raymond DeCosta of Amherst, NH; a brother: Manuel Oliveira of Westport; 4 sisters: Tessie Costa of Somerset, Rose Correia of N. Dartmouth, Marianna Correia of N. Dartmouth and Tina Bariteau of Bellingham; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was mother of the late Robert DeCosta and Ronald DeCosta and sister of the late John Oliveira, Edward Oliveira, Ida Larue, Alice Oliveira and Mary Santos.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, November 29, 2010 from the Potter Funeral Home at 8:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 9:30 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday 5 – 8 P.M.
Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
