Wesley served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific. He was of the Baptist faith and was always active in his church before becoming a victim of Alzheimer’s disease. He was a deacon, taught Sunday school, sang in quartets and was choir director for many years. He also volunteered with the local literacy program. He was employed with the City of Danville for thirty years and retired in the late eighties. He was well known for his generous nature and charming wit. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
