Obituary

LOWELL—Leo R. Lippe, 76 years old, died Tuesday afternoon at the Northwood Rehab and Nursing Center, following a long illness. He was the husband of Celestine “Sally” (Gomes) Lippe, with whom he celebrated their 55th anniversary in January of this year.

He was born in Lowell, on July 17, 1927, a son of the late Leo J. and Mary (Richards) Lippe, and was educated in the Lowell Schools.

For over twenty five years Mr. Lippe was employed as a mechanic by Manzi Dodge, in Lowell. Following their closing he then worked as a maintenance man for Joan Fabrics, until his retirement. He was a member of the North End Boat Club, in Newburyport, and a former member of the C.C.A. Club in Lowell.

He played the guitar with the former groups: The Melody Trio and The Four Larks, at many clubs in the Greater Lowell area.

Surviving him besides his wife are two sons: Thomas J. Lippe, of Lowell; David L. Lippe, and his fiance Denise Anger, of Largo, FL; three daughters and sons-in-law: Dorothy M. and Ronald Albert, of Manchester, NH; Nancy M. and George Vermette, of Lowell; and Deborah L. and Michael McDermott, of Tyngsboro; five grandsons, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

It being the family’s request, all services are private. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society; 30 Speen Street; Framingham, MA 01701-9376.
