Mr. Louis E. Dion, formerly of Raynham, died Thursday, November 18 in Brockton Hospital-Signature Healthcare, Brockton, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Rose (Kable) Dion. He was born 97 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Alexander and Rosalie (Menard) Dion. He was educated in Taunton and had been a Raynham resident for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a tanner for the former Geilich Tannery in Taunton for many years. Mr. Dion was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served at Pearl Harbor and also in New Guinea. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He leaves several nieces and nephews and was the brother of the late George, Earl, Nelson, Milton, Roland and Albert Dion, Irene Dingley, Eva Bergfield and Edna Taylor.
A Memorial Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Manor, Brockton, on Sunday, December 5 at 11:15 A.M. Interment with Military Honors was held previously at the V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Homes for Our Troops, 6 Main St., Taunton, Ma., 02780.
