Allan H. Reed, 70, of New Bedford died Monday November 22, 2010 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Bette (Gonsalves) Reed.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Leonard and Ruth (Lackie) Reed, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Reed was formerly employed as a fisherman aboard the F/V Eagle.
He and his wife were recognized as "Foster Parents of the Year" after having been foster parents for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and football.
Survivors include wife; five children, Allan Reed Jr., Eva Maciel and her husband Luis, Tammy Reed Downing, and Kelley Reed, all of New Bedford, and Ronald Reed and his wife Tabitha of Rochester; numerous brothers and sisters; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
