Obituary

Betty L. Gunter, 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Monday, November 22, 2010, at Dorminy Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Abundant Life Worship Center with Rev. Ricky Kellum and Rev. Ricky Revels officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gunter was born November 15, 1941 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late John Lacey and Sadie Lucille Taylor Herring. She was a 1959 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and received her LPN training from the Ben Hill County Hospital. She worked installing rivets inside the wings of airplanes at Robins Air Field and, together with her husband, operated The Shipping Connection in Fitzgerald. Mrs. Gunter was also well known for her seamstress work crafting many prom dresses for young ladies in the community. She was a former resident of Warner Robins, Atlanta, and Vienna having returned to Fitzgerald 20 years ago. Mrs. Gunter attended Abundant Life Worship Center.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years: Nathaniel E. Gunter of Fitzgerald; daughter: Trina Aycock of Fitzgerald; two sons: Jeffery Fuller of Dublin and Scott Fuller of Abbeville; step-daughter: Athena Gunter of Warner Robins; grandchildren: Brandi (Kevin) Bostick, Kirstie (William) Jowers, Edwin (Casey) Aycock, Leigh Fuller, Jessie Fuller, Tommy Fuller, Abby Fuller, and Walker Fuller; 4 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren: Emely Rose Bostick, William Kasey Jowers, Jr., Stormie Lexis Jowers, Logan Kyle Harper, and Zoey Bella Aycock; brothers: Jimmy Herring of Rutledge and John T. “Jake” Herring of Fitzgerald; sister: Barbara H. Setzer of Danielsville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-son: Richard Scott Gunter and a sister: Jeanette McGraw.
