Jeannine B. Cote, of Woonsocket, died Saturday at Mt. St. Francis Health Center with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of Leo N. Cote. They were married on June 22, 1946.
Born in Gentilly, P.Q. Canada, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Antonia (Baril) Durand. She came to the United States with her family in 1923 and was a resident of Woonsocket for most of her life. She was a graduate of St. Clare Girls High School, Class of 1936.
Mrs. Cote worked for Cote Bros. Enterprises Inc. for many years, operating the fruit and vegetable stand at Park Square. Every summer her presence at the stand was a fixture for friends and neighbors. She also worked as a substitute teacher at St. Louis school for several years.
Jeannine enjoyed traveling with her husband to many destinations across the U.S. and Canada as well as trips abroad. She also enjoyed crocheting and keeping up with current events.
Jeannine was devoted to her family and always immersed in their activities.
In addition to her husband of 64 years, she is survived by a son, Robert L. Cote of Westerly, a daughter, Diane J. Auger, and her husband Roger, of Auburn, MA., and her sister, Helen Budlong of FL., She was the sister of the late Alfred, Victor, and Lionel Durand, Monica Brennan, Lucy Pelletier, Alice LePage, Veronica Kessler, Isabelle Farley, and Martha Durand. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Cote, Laurie Hayes, Gary Cote, Lisa Buron, Amy Miller, Holly Carpenter, and also Melissa Perry, and her great-grandchildren, Erin and Elizabeth Buron, Audrey and Natalie Hayes, Perryn and Davin Cote, Colton and Liam Carpenter, and also Kyle and Jason Perry. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:00 am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:30 am, prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt.
