Edward J. Peckham, 86

Dateline: Norton, MA

Edward J. Peckham, 86, of Norton formerly of Florida and Westport passed away in the comfort of his home on Saturday November 20, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Beatrice “Bea” (Belanger) Peckham, to whom he was wed for 63 years.
Born in Cohasset, MA on October 19, 1924, he was a son of the late Frank and Emily (DeMello) Peckham.
Ed spent his early childhood living in Cohasset. His family later moved to Fall River and he was a graduate of the Bristol County Agricultural School in Dighton. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He was honorably discharged Oct. 24, 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
A retired Parts Manager, Mr. Peckham had worked for 15 years at Poirier Lincoln Mercury in Fall River. Following retirement he was employed part time in the maintenance dept. at Rainbow Village in Zephyrhills, Florida.
A resident of Norton for the past eight years, Ed was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. He was a member of the Norton VFW, the Norton American Legion, the Norton Council on Aging, where he a and his wife were avid bingo players, and was also a former member of the Fall River Knights of Columbus Council 86.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children Edward W. Peckham and his wife Patty of West Virginia, Sandra L. Connelly and her husband Steve of Norton and Thomas E. Peckham and his wife Laurie of North Carolina. He was the brother of Helen Farrell of Somerset and the late Elizabeth Murphy, Francis Peckham, William Peckham and Thomas Peckham. Mr. Peckham is also survived by his loving 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday November 23rd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 1 Power St. Norton. Military honors will be performed at the conclusion of services. Private burial will be at a later date in Beach Grove Cemetery, Westport.
Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, Ed’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Community Visiting Nurse Agency Hospice 10 Emory St. Attleboro, MA 02703.
