DIGHTON – Helen L. (Goulart) Costa, 88, died of complications due to Alzheimer’s disease at the Dighton Nursing Center on Nov. 18, 2010.
She was the wife of the late Humbert Costa.
Born in Dighton, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Gracia) Goulart.
Raised and educated in Dighton, she worked for Firestone during WW II, and was later employed by Raytheon for twenty-nine years, retiring as a shift leader in 1987.
A communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Church, Mrs. Costa enjoyed volunteering, and spent many hours serving with Primetime in Dighton as well as other organizations.
She was past president of the former VFW Raposa-Knott Post 2094 Women’s Auxiliary in N. Dighton, and enjoyed shopping, knitting, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves two sons, Paul J. Costa, his wife Dale and their children Paul, Jr., Adam and Faith of Fall River; and Daniel Costa, Sr., his wife Sherry and their children Daniel, Jr. and Kristy of Berkley; a daughter, Katheryn M. Costa of N. Dighton and her son Michael of Phoenix, AZ; three brothers, Edward Goulart and his wife Doris of FL, George Goulart and his wife Laura of Dighton, and John Goulart and his wife Nancy, also of Dighton; a sister, Margaret Souza of Tiverton, RI; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Mary Keating and Joseph Goulart.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Wednesday Nov. 24th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Nicholas Of Myra Church, Dighton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday Nov. 23rd from 3 to 7 p.m.
