WORCESTER-Richard R. Black, Sr., 77, of Worcester, died Thursday, November 18th in UMass-Memorial Medical Center-Memorial Campus. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Mary G. (Martone) Black; two sons, Richard R. Black, Jr. and his wife Angela of Worcester and Joseph P. Black and his wife Catherine of Baldwinville; three brothers, Robert J. Black of Holden, Donald R. Black of Ohio, and Paul L. Black of Auburn; three sisters, Barbara A. Boisvert and Elizabeth A. Capuano, both of Worcester and Kathleen A. Blais of Auburn; five grandchildren; a great granddaughter; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Robert J. Black, Sr. and Lovelena D. (St. Onge) Black and lived here all his life. He was a truck driver for the Teamsters Union, Local 170 and F & H Transportation for 25 years, and later at Polar Beverage for 20 years, from where he retired in 2003. Mr. Black was a member of the former St. Charles Borromeo Parish. In his teens, Richard worked at Green Street Market. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran and he enjoyed fishing and going to the casino.
The funeral is Monday, November 22nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, November 21st from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
