Obituary

Annabelle (Duggan) Leogrande, 74, of 45 Steamboat Wharf Mystic, died Tuesday at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on January 29, 1929 in Bronx, NY and moved from Mineola, NY to Mystic in 1981. She had a dynamic personality as well as being very loving and giving to her family and friends. During this last week at home at home, she had many visits from family and friends greeting everyone with a smile and cheerful note saying, "I'll be fine, see you later up there in years to come".

She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Charles "Carl" Leogrande whom she married at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Williston Park, NY on September 14, 1947. She is also survived by their son, Glenn of Mystic; her two sisters, Jeanette Mayo-Upholz of Stonington, Helen Markowski of Hicksville, NY, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John Duggan.

Annaabelle was an accomplished oil painter, having attended Art Students League of NY for many years. She exhibited her paintings in Jamaica, West Indies where he 2nd home had been for over 30 years. She especially enjoyed painting seascapes, Landscapes and Jamaican children. Throughout the years, she gave amny of her paintings to family and friends as gifts.

She was also a self-taught expert calligrapher, and enjoyed many years of scuba diving and snorkeling in the West Indies and travelling abroad with Carl.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 5-8pm and Saturday from 8:45 until 9:45am, followed by A Funeral Eucharist at 10am at St. Mark's Episcopal Church . Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
