Pastor Thomas L. Bulgar, 59, of Brockton died Sunday December 14, 2003 at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a long illness. He was the husband of Pastor Susan R. (Caines) Bulgar, and son of Philip and Theresa (Bulgar) Bazar of Medford.
Born in Acushnet and raised in New Bedford, he had lived in Brockton for the past 27 years. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Boston College, and the International Seminary.
Pastor Bulgar was Senior Pastor of Anchored in Christ Foursquare Gospel Church in New Bedford. He previously was formerly employed as a manager with Verizon until his retirement.
Pastor Bulgar was a past president of the Hancock Community School Basketball Program in Brockton, and had coached youth football and basketball in Brockton, Maryland and New Jersey. In 1994, he was inducted into the New Bedford High School Gridiron Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife; his parents; 2 sons, Brennan Bulgar and Scott Bulgar, both of Brockton; 2 daughters, Melody Harris and Brandyy Fernandes, both of Brockton; 2 sisters, Joyce Bulgar of Maryland and Lovita Strain of Medford; 9 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
His Homegoing Service will be held on Friday December 19, 2003 at 10 AM in the Church on the Rock Brockton Foursquare Gospel Church, 421 Torrey St., Brockton. Viewing at the Church Friday 9-10 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours will be in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Thursday December 18, 2003 from 4-8 PM.
