James F. Whittet, 82…WWII Navy Veteran, active in Masons…
BOCA RATON, FL: James F. Whittet, age 82, a former longtime resident of Tewksbury, Mass. died Monday, December 15, 2003 in Boca Raton, FL.
He was the husband of the late Elizabeth “Pat” (Corey) Whittet.
Born in Lowell on March 13, 1921, he was the only son of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Galloway) Whittet.
Mr. Whittet resided most of his life in Lowell and Tewksbury. In 2000, due to his failing health, he moved to Florida to live with his cousin, Barbara Billadeau.
Mr. Whittet served during Word War II as a Radioman 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy.
Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked as a systems installer for the New England Telephone Company retiring in 1984 after 38 years.
Mr. Whittet was an active member of several Masonic and Scottish Rite bodies. In 1989, he received his 33rd Degree in Pittsburgh, PA. He was past master of Ancient York Lodge AF & AM of Lowell and was active in the Lowell Lodge of Perfection, the Lowell Council Princes of Jerusalem and a Past Most Wise Master of the Mount Calvary Chapter of Rose Croix. In addition, he was a member of the Massachusetts Consistory Guard.
He is survived by his cousin; Barbara Billadeau her husband George of Boca Raton, FL and Barbara’s son Michael Rogers of Texas.
Mr. Whittet was the father of the late Constance Whittet Boudreau; step-father of the late Brenda Berry and cousin of the late Virginia E. Whittet and Barbara Galloway Ward.
Calling hours Friday 6-8 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral services Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial at Tewksbury Cemetery.
