Obituary

MATTAPOISETT-Francis “Franny” John Conlon 70, of Worcester and Mattapoisett died Monday, November 15th in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford, surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife Hazel (Standfield) Conlon, with whom he enjoyed 47 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Graham Conlon of Worcester, Christopher Conlon of Worcester, Joseph Conlon and wife Nancy of North Oxford; and he was a proud grandfather to five grand children, Michael, Mandee, Liam, Riana, and Rylee.
He was born in Boston, the son of John F. and Margret (Ruel) Conlon of Dedham. He was raised there along with lifelong best friend and cousin Raymond “Skip” Empey. He served 5 years with the 17th Artillery, with the U.S. Army in Germany. Mr. Conlon worked at Wyman Gordon in Worcester for several years. After becoming disabled he was a long time fixture at Kruger’s Garage in Worcester. He was a 25 year member and past Master at Isaiah Thomas Masonic Lodge Worcester, a Charter member of Cawnacome Sunset Lodge of Monument Beach, and Melha Shrine of Springfield. Fran was a lifelong Nascar fan and camping enthusiast.
Calling hours will be held Friday November 19th from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Ave. Worcester. His Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 20th in St. Ann's Church, North Oxford.
