DARTMOUTH — Our quite remarkable mom, Marion P. Morse, left us on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. The cause of death may have been too many rainy days in November, her cancer, or the wear and tear of 93 miraculous years. Mom's gardens will suffer the loss of her care. Her three children, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, huge extended family, and myriad friends will miss her smile, kindness, wisdom, and her laugh, which was once described as "sparkling like a mountain stream."
In September, Mom took a last sail on Buzzards Bay. It was one of those perfect fall days with sunlight playing on the water and the shoreline showing off the season's colors. Next spring, as Mom's flowers start to bloom, we will wait for a gentle wind and take her sailing again. We will scatter her ashes on the bay, knowing they will join our father's ashes, which we spread 22 years ago on Chesapeake Bay.
Marion was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Daniel P. Morse, who died in 1988. She is survived by her children, Mariana Morse, of Brooktondale, NY; Charlie Morse, of Dartmouth MA; and Julie Morse, of Westport, MA.
A memorial service and reception will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, at The Allen's Neck Friends Meeting House, 739 Horseneck Road, Dartmouth, MA.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Marion's name to the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust or to the ALS Association
