Rita E. (Sedlin) Shaw, 81, of Bellingham died November 15 in Milford Regional Medical Center.
Born in Boston, February 1, 1929, the daughter of the late Charles K. and Elizabeth (Braun) Sedlin, Mrs. Shaw had lived in Needham for many years prior to moving to Bellingham several years ago.
Rita had been a medical transcriptionist for over twenty years at Deaconess Medical Center in Needham, formerly known as Glover Hospital.
She had many interests including opera and old movies. She never missed a Red Sox game and loved talking “sports” with her grandsons. Rita was a passionate animal lover, and enjoyed giving out treats during visits with neighborhood dogs.
She is survived by her children, Bradley A. Shaw and his wife Donna of Norfolk, William D. Shaw and Sandra of Medway and Nancy E. Bauman and her husband Peter of Medway.
She was the beloved grandmother of Laurie, Steven, Dana, Tim, Bobby, Ben and Sam.
She was the sister of the late Herbert K. Sedlin of Dedham. She was predeceased by cousins Arthur Kirsis and his wife, Margaret (Nash) Kirsis of Dedham. She is survived by cousins Karen Bryda of Norwood and Stephen Kirsis of Texas.
Her memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 21 in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 4:00 p.m.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
