Joseph A. Doucette, 93, passed away on November 15th, 2010. He was born in Stoneham on February 3rd, 1917 to his parents John J. and Cecelia (MacPhee) Doucette. Joseph was raised and educated in Melrose and is a graduate of Melrose High School. He served his country honorably during World War II as a soldier in the United States Army. For 43 years he worked as a Traffic Manager in the Shipping Department of the Converse Rubber Company in Malden. He was an accomplished piano player who entertained the residents of the Courtyard Nursing Home in Medford for 20 years. He also played at the Elks Lodge in Malden where he was a member and at the Elks Lodge in Melrose, the Kernwood Restaurant in Lynnfield and at the Hazelwood Restaurant in Wakefield. He is survived by his children; Joseph A. Doucette Jr. of Rockland, ME, Regina M. Driscoll of Melrose, Roberta T. Fowler of Woburn, Betsy McLean of Malden, Rhoda K. Astone of Burlington and Andrea J. Valletta of Cary, NC; by his sister Cecelia “Dolly” Boland of Melrose; and by his sister-in-law M. Roberta Carroll of Stoneham. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his wife Bernice R. (Carroll) Doucette in 2003. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday November 19th at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Joseph Church in Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday November 18th from 4-8 PM.
