Mrs. Ruby Rutherford, age 85, Douglas, GA, passed away at Langdale Hospice House, Valdosta, GA on Monday, November 15, 2010 following an extended illness. Mrs. Rutherford was born in Nashville, GA on January 6, 1925 to the late Bethel and Abigail Alexander McMillan, Sr. Mrs. Rutherford was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Jackson Rutherford, Jr.; brothers: Raymond McMillan, Bethel McMillan, Jr., Joe Wayne McMillan; sisters: Emily Dawkins, Margaret Karras, Ethel McMillan and Jean Lee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of “Happy Feet” group with First Baptist. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with burial following in the Douglas City Cemetery. Survivors include: nephews: Mark (Patti) Karras and Maggie and Carter Karras, Valdosta, GA; brother in law: E. T. Dawkins, Tallahassee, Fl, Jim Lee Newnan, Jim and Man Karras, Nashville, GA and several nieces and nephews and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Sims Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
