Gwendolyn Kirkland McCallum, age 74, of Broxton GA passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2010,. Mrs McCallum, a native of Coffee County, Georgia was born December 27, 1935; she is the daughter of the late Willis Mildron and Bertie Herring Kirkland. She was a school bus driver for 20 years for the Coffee County Public School System and a member of Deberry Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by Sister, Mildred Kirkland Adams, Brothers, George Kirkland and Joe Osburn. Funeral services were held 4:00 PM Monday at the Deberry Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Merritt and Rev. Larry Dean officiating. Music was as follows: The Deberry Church Choir and the Congregation sang, “What A Day That Will Be”, A taped selection by The Cathedrals “Beyond The Sunset” was provided; Peggy Ott, Soloist sang, “It Is Well With My Soul” and the Congregation sang “Amazing Grace” and “I’ll Fly Away”, with Justin Fussell, Pianist accompanying. Burial followed in the Deberry Church Cemetery near Broxton GA. Survivors include: Husband, Arthur Jordan McCallum, Daughters, Peggy (Jimmy) Ott, Broxton GA, Lynn (Steve) Atkinson, Quitman GA, Son, Arthur McCallum, Broxton, Brother, Billy Kirkland, Douglas GA, Grandchildren, Kristin Cook, Tiffany Fletcher, John Ott, Jamie Ott, and Kary McCallum, Great Grandchildren; Tyson Cook and Maggie Cook. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
